Tools for a perfect make-up job
There are so many different types of make-up brushes on the market, it can be hard to figure out which to use for a particular make-up job. However, once you start using them, you’ll wonder how you ever did without.
The blush brush is, without a doubt, the most popular. This wide, round brush with angled sides is ideal for applying blush perfectly to various areas of the face such as the temples, forehead, cheeks and chin. It helps even out skin tone and provides a natural, streak-free look. It is probably one of the most important tools in your make-up bag.
The medium eyeshadow brush is recommended for covering the entire surface of the eyelid. Its rounded shape covers a large surface, but is not made for precision work. It is the basic eye make-up tool.
The angled brush is a high-precision eye make-up tool. Its stiff angled bristles provide flawless results. It is perfect for applying a thin line of eyeshadow along the edge of the lashes to create a wide-eye effect.
The foundation brush is recognisable by its dense bristles. It is the perfect tool for applying your foundation evenly—providing just the right distribution of colour—for a natural, flawless look. Once you have applied the foundation with your brush, use your fingers to ensure a well blended, even finish.
The lip brush is used for creating perfectly defined lips. Its short, pointed bristles are ideal for applying lip colour. This brush will help you blend your liner and lip colour together for a smooth and natural look, and will make it easy to control the amount of colour you put on.
In addition to these make-up bag essentials, there are several other brushes you may find useful. However, learning how to use the basic tools described above is the first step to spectacular make-up application.
The eyelash curler is another must-have tool if you want to create sensual, piercing eyes. This tool will curl and fan out your lashes to make your eyes look wider. Once you are done, just add a few coats of mascara for the finishing touch. Always remember to curl your lashes before applying your mascara and never the other way around. Curling your lashes when you are wearing mascara could damage the rubber pads on your curler and rip out several of your lashes.
The magnifying mirror is absolutely essential for using your eyelash curler or for make-up application in general. There are many sizes to choose from, but a pocket-sized mirror with suction cups on the back can be used on any flat surface and is perfect for those emergency touch-ups.
