Don’t Brush It Off!

Round, flat, rectangular, wood, metal, boar, ventilated… Does the wide range of hairbrushes available in store confuse you? To help you choose the brush that is best suited to your hair and hairdo, we have established 5 criteria:
  • Look for the “boar bristles” claim on the package. Boar-bristle brushes are more expensive than most other options, but they will help you manage healthier, shinier hair. These brushes do not break hair and last longer than other types. But be careful! This organic and porous material can carry a ton of bacteria if left in a moist environment like the bathroom. Therefore, make sure you keep your boar brush far from humidity…

  • Choose quality over cost. A brush can last months, and even years for some people. So why avoid spending a few extra dollars on quality? Furthermore, only quality products will help you achieve the look your hairdresser gave you on your last visit.

  • Avoid brushes with metal or plastic bristles. They can hurt or damage your scalp and they don’t last as long as boar brushes.

  • To maximize your hair blowing session, choose a round, ventilated brush with a metal barrel. You will quickly find out that you may not need all of your other hairstyling items, e.g., irons and rolls! The larger the barrel, the better your grip will be. However, to allow more movement, choose an average-size barrel. Smaller barrels are mostly used for bangs.

  • To detangle fine hair, choose a Denman brush. It’s a flat brush with nylon bristles. It suits everyone in the family! It can also give your hair a smooth shape.

And what about the eternal debate of brushes over combs? Simple: brush straight hair and comb wavy hair.
