Whether you want to hide imperfections or let your skin shine through, several makeup items fill up the store shelves to fulfill a specific need. While we know that skin care products need to be chosen according to skin type, what should we be looking for when purchasing makeup?
A bright and healthy complexion
Women with a clear, smooth and bright complexion will be pleased to know that they may give up foundation! The new more natural and more discreet styles let those with great skin free from foundation; they may simply use a light tinted moisturizing cream. Moreover, during summer, why not use a light bronzer on the oily T-zone? A guaranteed healthy look!
Women who want to hide signs of aging and slight imperfections of the skin will opt for something different. Nevertheless, they must avoid heavy foundations that may obstruct skin pores!
The best way to find your shade?
Apply foundation on your jaw line and not on your wrist. Try three slightly different shades. The shade closest to your skin colour will most likely be the best choice.
If using foundation is not enough and you wish to hide more imperfections (dark circles, discoloration, blackheads, etc.), use a concealer before your foundation. The concealer will always be lighter than your foundation so it will disappear under it; selecting the exact hue is therefore less important.
Once the foundation is applied evenly, dust your face with loose powder. It will seal the foundation and eliminate the shinny aspect.
Seasonal Lips
Lips are at the forefront of seasonal trends. Everywhere, a shinny, glossy finish covers a durable colour.
Too often, lipstick is applied quickly followed by the well-known lip-squeeze. You should rather start by a light application of foundation of concealer to create a uniform surface. If you are using a colour different from your natural lip colour, it is recommended to trace the outside line of your smile with a pencil. Avoid using a colour different from that of your lipstick! For a natural look, apply the concealer, some free powder, and then, a light or pearly shade at the center of the lips.
