What is the dermocosmetic approach?

Dermocosmetics is a branch of dermatology concerned with the aesthetic appearance of skin. Combining cosmetics and pharma-ceuticals, it focuses on skin care, the treatment of superficial skin disorders such as acne, wrinkles, and redness, as well as products that can improve skin’s health and appearance. It does not deal with cosmetics specifically.

It is often difficult to know what a product must contain in order to be efficacious in treating superficial skin disorders. Your pharmacist can advise you on the different products available. However, if you suffer from a more serious skin condition, a consultation with a dermatologist is recommended to obtain specialized care and a thorough examination.
