Special Olympics Québec is glad to announce its partnership with PROXIM. In the course of the next two years, the movement’s 4,000 athletes will see the PROXIM banner displayed at various SOQ sports and fundraising events. PROXIM’s participation is aimed at encouraging and supporting the practice of sport by people living with an intellectual disability.
“Special Olympics Québec has clearly demonstrated the benefits of its action for athletes and for their families and loved ones. Today, there are 130,000 people living with an intellectual disability in Québec. We want to offer our programs to a greater number of school age athletes in order to accelerate their social inclusion. The support that PROXIM will give our athletes is another step toward their integration in society”, explains Daniel Granger, chairman of the Board of Special Olympics Québec.
“PROXIM is proud to support Special Olympics Québec in its quest to valorize people living with an intellectual disability. Sports have beneficial effects on the health and self-esteem of both healthy individuals and those living with a physical or intellectual disability. The Special Olympics Québec team kindly and generously accompanies these athletes who, it goes without saying, are fine examples of perseverance”, says Peter Drouin, executive director of PROXIM.
PROXIM is committed to raising awareness of the Special Olympics movement through its website, flyer, newsletter and radio ads.
