Baby 0 to 12 months

Here is an information excerpt  from the Mother to Be booklet.

Mixing medicine with your baby's food may help mask the taste. But never mix medication in with a child’s meal or with food that is essential for his health. He will think that his meal tastes bad and refuse to eat. Why not have him associate the bad taste with a non-essential food or liquid, such as a small amount of jam or chocolate syrup?

If your baby is old enough, you can also have him chew on a frozen teething ring before giving him his medicine, which will freeze his mouth so he tastes less. Never mix medicine with the contents of his bottle either. There are two reasons for this. It is essential to his development, and he should not associate it with a bad taste. Furthermore, if he does not finish the entire bottle, he will not receive the full dose of medication needed for treatment.

IMPORTANT: Always use a measuring spoon or syringe when giving medicine to your baby. This will help you avoid giving him too high or low a dose.
