In this booklet, we discuss four closely linked problems affecting the health of women: menopause, osteoporosis, breast cancer and sexuality after 50.
We explain each of these problems, their causes, their health consequences, the associated risk factors, as well as available treatments. A section is also dedicated to healthy lifestyle habits. In addition, self-tests are included to help you evaluate your situation.
Menopause is a normal and integral part of the aging process in women. It marks the end of fertility. Menopause occurs following a gradual reduction of hormone production, more particularly of estrogen. Menopause is definitive after at least 12 months without a menstrual period. Because of physical and emotional symptoms, this time of life is difficult for some women, while for others, it goes by almost unnoticed. .
