Our feet carry us everywhere we go. At the end of our lives, they will have walked around the globe many times over. Unfortunately, we are often inclined to neglect our feet. Good hygiene is the way to start off on the right foot.
Dry skin, odours and perspiration, tired or swollen feet, calluses and fungus are the most common problems.
Your pharmacy carries the products you need to take proper care of your feet, from pumice stones to deodorants. Please be careful when purchasing certain creams, gels or therapeutic liquids. Some may contain salicylic or boric acid that can cause irritation or other problems if not used correctly. In case of doubt, ask your pharmacist.
Diabetes sufferers are particularly at risk for foot problems. In fact, poor foot care or a small wound can trigger a much more serious problem and even gangrene. These persons must take special care of their feet. Many foot care products are not recommended for diabetics. Always ask your pharmacist when purchasing a product to find out whether it is safe for you to use it. In addition, your pharmacist will be able to give you advice on how to take good care of your feet and avoid complications.
To learn more about foot care, don’t hesitate to consult your pharmacist.
