Baby

Answer: and

The Canadian Paediatric Society recommends only breast milk for the first six months of life for healthy term infants. In fact, breast milk is the optimal food for infants.

At the same time, breastfeeding is a very personal choice. The most important thing is choosing what is best for you, and respecting your values and availability. Remember that your baby’s needs will be met whether he gets his mother’s breast or a bottle given with love by an attentive parent.

Answer:

Having heartburn doesn’t mean that your baby will have lots of hair. There is absolutely no link between digestive problems and the amount of hair your fetus has. Heartburn during pregnancy occurs as the uterus expands and presses up against the stomach, causing acid to rise towards the mouth.

There are a few simple tricks and certain over-the-counter medications that can alleviate your symptoms and provide some relief. Ask your pharmacist for help in choosing an option that is safe for your baby.

Answer:

Pregnant women don’t have to worry about eating fish. It is a healthy alternative which provides protein, iron, fatty acids, B vitamins, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium.

However, when eating fish, it is best to follow these recommendations:

  • Eat sea fish like cod, sole, halibut, haddock, salmon or canned tuna
  • Avoid eating raw fish
  • Avoid eating certain freshwater fish like pike, walleye, catfish, etc.
  • Avoid eating fish that has been caught near municipal or industrial sewers as they may have been contaminated by various pollutants
