Constipation is often caused by a lack of fibre in one’s diet, lack of proper hydration or insufficient physical activity. No single food can cause constipation.
If our grandmothers used banana purée to treat diarrhea, it is probably because bananas—like many other fruits—contain a type of fibre (soluble fibre) that helps you stay regular. This does not mean, however, that fibre causes constipation!
