Dreaming of the day your little angel will sleep through the night without waking you? Admit it! You secretly envy your friends who have been sleeping in the arms of Morpheus for ages, with a baby who has slept through the night since the first month!
But comparisons are pointless… Each child has his or her own sleep requirements. Some turn out to be excellent sleepers, while others seem to fight tirelessly against sleep. Regardless of these differences, you can help your child get to the land of dreams and stay there!
It’s perfectly normal for a child to wake up many times during the night. But to fall back asleep, the child will try to recreate the conditions under which he fell asleep in the first place. If he needs mothers’ arms, he’ll ask for it them in the middle of the night! On the other hand, if the ritual, at bedtime, is to snuggle with a blanket, the child will recreate the same scenario… without your help!
Besides, someone other than Mommy or Daddy should be able to perform the bedtime ritual. This will make it much easier to have your child babysat. Another trick is to put your child to bed awake, so he can learn to fall asleep on his own.
And if you have become accustomed to sleeping with your baby, it’s not a disaster… but there goes your privacy!
