"When I get up in the morning, I look in the mirror and tell myself: ‘Buddy, you’re going to have an awesome day!"
Health is also mind over matter
From Day 1, Robert vowed to fight. His love of life is greater than the odds. “I want to be there for my children and grandchildren, and perhaps more importantly, to set an example for them.” To set the example of a father who doesn’t give up, of a man who can find the silver lining in all of life’s hardships. In a fight such as Robert’s, having a positive mindset is essential.
The importance of feeling supported
Before getting his cancer diagnosis, Robert was never sick. As a very self-sufficient person, he had to learn how to accept help. “You can’t beat an illness like cancer by yourself.” The support of his family, friends and health care team is fundamental. “Feeling that the people around me really want me to get better gives me the strength to go on.”
“A glimmer of hope can move mountains.”
