Non-Irritant Diet
This diet allows the stomach to rest when it is irritated by an esophagitis, gastro-esophageal reflux or a hiatus hernia. It prevents stomach irritation by limiting the foods that come into contact with it. The following products are to be avoided.
Meat, fish: Deli meats, salty meats (ham), smoked meats, fried meats and sauces made with meat juices.
Eggs: Fried eggs.
Fruits: Citrus fruits and juice, whole tomatoes and juice.
Vegetables: Onions, fried or spicy vegetables.
Bread, cereals: No restriction.
Dairy products: Cheeses with spices or seeds.
Desserts and sweets: Chocolate and mint.
Beverages: Hot beverages, caffeine, alcohol and soft drinks.
Miscellaneous: High sodium or spicy soups or bouillons, spices...
Moreover, it is preferable for you to eat small portions and slowly. Avoid smoking, tight clothing and chewing gum. After meals, take part in light activities and abstain from eating 2-3 hours before going to bed.
Always watch your diet: it has a strong impact on your health!
